Proof that I need surgery for my PMDD

I'm amassing links here for my future doctor appointments in my quest to have a TAH/BSO and be rid of my PMDD forever.

If you are reading this and are not one of my physicians, you can still use this information if you are fighting to get approved for surgery.  The anecdotal information can be removed for your personal use.

This is Professor John Studd's website.  He is considered a top PMDD expert in the UK and has recommended hysterectomies/salpingo-oophorectomies for the treatment of PMDD in many women.

This site is old (2002), however it contains a lot of information about PMDD treatments, including a flowchart of what methods to try first.  Figure 1 has an algorithm for treating PMDD, and I have attempted ALL except GnRH-a's because of the cost and because of my reaction to Yasmin/Ocella birth control pills (sudden and severe weight gain and many other odd symptoms that may have led to the development of fibromyalgia).

At the risk of breaking any spoken or unspoken confidentiality rules, if you go to this site's forum and type in "pmdd" into the search box (you do not need to register as a member), then click the search result links that begin with "www.hystersisters.com", you will see the many women who have undergone surgery for PMDD and had success.  There is not a single story that I have found that says surgery did NOT work for the PMDD.
  • Both of my grandmothers died of ovarian cancer.  Both were menopausal when they passed, however, who knows when the cancer initially began?  A prophylactic removal of my ovaries at the very least would be indicated here.  However, as I have this high risk of cancer development as well as PMDD, a full TAH/BSO would be the better decision.  One surgery, less money and time under anesthesia, less trauma and/or risk of infection, the list goes on.
  • more to come...
